Mountain View, Hawaiʻi — Big Island
Own Your Piece of Paradise
Discover Our Vision →
Who We Are
Makaʻala Farmsteads is a cooperative land community nestled in the lush rainforest of Mountain View, Hawaiʻi on the Big Island. Our 140-acre property sits near the corner of Makaʻala Road and North Glenwood Road — a beautiful, fertile landscape ready to become home.
Ten families will come together to purchase the land, subdivide it into 5-acre farmstead lots, and build a small village community rooted in sustainability, aloha, and the land. Remaining lots will be sold to fund roads, utilities, and community development — making this vision a reality for everyone.
The Process
Ten founding families combine funds to purchase 140 acres of fertile Big Island land together — making ownership possible through shared investment.
The acreage is subdivided into 5-acre agricultural farmstead lots. Each founding family receives one lot — their own piece of paradise.
Remaining lots are sold to fund roads, utilities, and community infrastructure — creating a thriving small village community rooted in aloha.
